Two Red Road to Wellbriety Recovery Circles are beginning in Northeast Oklahoma.  Like AA & NA, these Red Road to Wellbriety circles are educational and support groups for persons recovering from drug/alcohol abuse but presented in a way that makes sense to Native Americans.

Dr. Bill Blue Eagle McCutchen (Chickasaw), a certified facilitator of White Bison Inc., says, “Time and time again, Native Elders have said that the twelve steps of AA are the same as the principles that our ancestors lived by.  When we place the twelve steps in a circle, then they come into alignment with circle teachings of Native Americans.  Many people I’ve worked with in recovery over the years have said that this way is easier for them to grasp the interconnectedness of the Twelve Steps.”

The first circle meets on Wednesday nights beginning Oct 22, in Tulsa, 6:30 pm, in the Prayer Chapel at First Christian Church, 913 N. Boulder.  The second one in Vinita will be held on Mondays 11am-1pm starting Nov 10, in the meeting room of Grand Nation, Inc on the third floor of the Post Office.  There is a $20 fee for the participant workbook.  Some scholarships are available; so one should not let the $20 be a stumbling block.  Interested persons should contact Blue Eagle at This email address is being protected from spambots.
