RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – High school basketball players from predominantly Native American schools have descended on South Dakota's Black Hills for the Lakota Nation Invitational basketball tournament.

The 36th annual tournament kicked off Wednesday and runs through Saturday in Rapid City.

In addition to basketball, the event includes wrestling, archery and cheerleading competitions. A Lakota Language Bowl, knowledge bowl and an art show are also offered.
