WICHITA, Kan. (September 24, 2011) - Ryan Dirteater managed to hold onto his lead, becoming the only rider to cover all four of his bulls at the DEWALT Guaranteed Tough Invitational. Leading the way at the start of Day 2, Dirteater rode Clam Digger (Dakota Rodeo/Berger/Struve) in the first flight of Round 2 for 87.25 points. He decided on Crosswired (D&H Cattle Co./Clifton Wiggins) in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and ended up with the round win and the highest scored ride of the weekend – 91.75 points. Dirteater took home over $46,000 in prize money for the win and was awarded a bonus of $5,000 worth of Stanley DEWALT tools. The event win bumped Dirteater to 15th in the world standings.
Veteran rider Luke Snyder finished the weekend just behind Dirteater, covering Slim Chance (D&H Cattle Co.) in Round 3 for 86.5 points, then bucking off of Bushwacker (Julio Moreno/Richard Oliveira) in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Third in the average in Wichita went to relative newcomer Fabiano Viera, who made the buzzer in Round 3 on Big Jim (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger Bucking Bulls) with a score of 86.75 points. Viera was bucked off of DEWALT Guaranteed Tough (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls/#10 Bucking Bulls) in the final round.
Fourth in the average went to Vieira’s Brazilian countryman and current No. 2 in the world standings, Valdiron de Oliveira. In Round 3, Oliveira covered Rainbow (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) for 85 points, but was bucked off of Another One (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Current world leader Silvano Alves rounded out the Top 5 in Wichita after covering both bulls on Day 2. He received 83 points on How We Roll (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger Bucking Bulls) in Round 3. Alves then made the only other qualifying ride in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, along with Dirteater, riding Movin’ On (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) for 85 points.

The Built Ford Tough Series will then return to Charlotte, N.C., after a three-year hiatus next week for the Troy-Bilt Invitational presented by Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse on Sept. 30-Oct. 1. Bull riding begins at 8:00 p.m. ET on Friday, Sept. 30, and at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Wichita was the 26th stop on the nationally-televised Built Ford Tough Series, which makes 29 stops in 23 states. The season began at world-famous Madison Square Garden in New York, and culminates Oct. 26-30 in Las Vegas at the richest bull riding event in the world, the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals. The Finals is where the 2011 PBR World Champion will be crowned and awarded the $1 million Built Ford Tough bonus.
