Balloons to take flight over Monument Valley

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) – Monument Valley on the Navajo Nation is hosting its second annual balloon festival this weekend.

Navajo Parks and Recreation Department spokeswoman Geri Hongeva says the balloon festival event is invitation-only for balloonists.

The park last year hosted 15 balloons and has expanded to 20 balloonists for this weekend's events.

Organizers are expecting as many as 4,000 spectators per day.

Balloonist Doug Lenberg of Farmington says flying over the peaks and valleys of Monument Valley and looking down at the rock formations in a hot air balloon is spectacular.
