WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. (AP) – A Navajo Nation case that accuses dozens of tribal officials of fraud is on hold until the new year.

Judge Carol Perry granted a request from prosecutors to delay the case until Jan. 17. Prosecutors say they need more time to review tens of thousands of documents in the civil case.

Perry also stressed that any conflicts of interest must be disclosed. One defense attorney represents two dozen people, while another represents 14.

The Rothstein Law Firm recently took over prosecution of the case that alleges that 85 current and former Navajo officials defrauded the tribal government in the use or management of $36 million in discretionary funds.
