WYANDOTTE, Okla. – The Wyandotte Nation is calling off its 2014 election.

The tribe’s election chairman, Rob Nesvold, announced Friday that none of the four races on this year’s ballot drew more than one candidate, thus eliminating the need for an election at the tribe’s annual meeting on Sept. 13.

Three incumbents filed for office and are running unopposed. They are: second chief Norman Hildebrand, grievance committee member Doug Lofland and board of directors member Vivian Fink.

Two seats on the grievance committee were originally slated to be on this year’s ballot. Since only one candidate filed, the second open seat will be filled via appointment by the tribe’s board of directors.

With the cancellation of this year’s election, the next Wyandotte election is scheduled for 2017.
