NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) – The chairman of the Three Affiliated Tribes says he will seek a second term.

Marcus Levings was elected chairman in November 2006, defeating Tex Hall. Hall had sought an unprecedented third term.

Earlier, the 43-year-old Levings served eight years on the tribal business council, and worked as director of the tribe’s employment rights office.

Tribal officials say there are no other declared candidates at present for the September primary election on the Fort Berthold Reservation. The tribes’ general election is slated in November.

The Three Affiliated Tribes has about 12,000 enrolled members, many of whom live off the reservation.
