Update on the Indian Trust Settlement and Distribution of Trust Administration Class Payments

SEATTLE, Wash. – Payments for the Trust Administration Class in the Indian Trust Settlement are expected to be mailed in the early Fall, the Settlement Administrator, The Garden City Group, Inc. (“GCG”), announced today.

Under the procedures established by the Settlement, the U.S. Department of Interior must first complete its review of records relating to the Trust Administration Class payments and finalize calculations of awards.  Once the payment calculations are completed, Class Counsel immediately will seek final approval from the Court and GCG will prepare to issue checks to affected Class Members.  As soon as the Court approves the payments, checks will begin to be mailed within only two to three weeks.  While the Department of Interior expects to complete its calculations soon, this timeframe is subject to change.  Every effort is being made to ensure accurate and timely distribution of payments.

GCG will hold two meetings in Montana for Class Members, their families and heirs to answer questions, take updates for address and contact information, and to obtain probate documents for estate distributions.  The meetings are scheduled as follows:

August 19, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bingo Hall
Ft Belknap Indian Community
Harlem, MT 59526

August 20, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Glacier Peaks Casino Bingo Hall
416 W Central Avenue
Browning, MT 59417
