RENO, Nev. (AP) – Reno police say an 18-year-old man accused of driving a pickup truck into a crowd of protesters rallying in support of Native American rights has been arrested.

KOLO-TV reports that Nicholas Mahaffey was booked into Washoe County jail on Friday on one misdemeanor charge of provoking assault.

According to jail records, he was released on $1,000 bail. It was not known Saturday if Mahaffey had an attorney.

Meanwhile, two protesters accused of fighting with him have outstanding warrants for a battery charge.

Police have identified them as 24-year-old James Fletcher and 21-year-old Samuel Harry.

Three protesters were hurt in the Monday night incident, including a 59-year-old woman who was hospitalized with a broken pelvis and hip.

The group was demonstrating against Columbus Day and for awareness of indigenous people.
