BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – A state official has pleaded guilty to charges she stole thousands of dollars from trust fund accounts held for Cayuga Nation children.

New York State Inspector General Catherine Leahy Scott announced Monday that Kim Thomas-Muffoletto of Getzville admitted stealing the money over a seven-year period.

Thomas-Muffoletto stole the money when she was Director of Native American Services at the New York State Office of Children and Family Services in Buffalo.

She had been accused of stealing nearly $25,000 and using it for personal and family expenses.
