LAWTON, Okla. – The Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center (CNMCC) continues to receive recognition for excellence on national, regional and state levels.  CNMCC has added five more awards to their list of accomplishments.  The museum has now received a total of 32 local, state, regional and national awards since opening in 2007.

The Telly Awards, which honors the country’s best films, videos and commercials, named CNMCC a winner in its 36th annual awards competition.  The museum took honors for its 2014 Happy Holidays television commercial.  The competition consisted of 12,000 entries from all 50 states.  Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the country.

Regionally, the Mountain-Plains Museum Association (MPMA) has recognized CNMCC with a first place design award for a brochure created for its recent exhibition, The Pahiitu Exhibit.  The exhibition, which was on display at the museum earlier this year, showcased the work of Comanche contemporary artists Ed Hoosier, J. NiCole Hatfield, and Cynthia Clay.  The award-winning brochure featured biographies, artist statements and photographs of all three artists.   MPMA is a 10-state regional museum association comprised of museum professionals from Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wyoming.

CNMCC has also received state recognition from the Oklahoma Museums Association (OMA).  OMA named The Pahiitu Exhibit one of the state’s best exhibits in 2015.  The exhibit’s brochure also picked up an OMA Award in the Best Promotional Piece category.   A third OMA Award was presented to CNMCC the Technology and Media category for a behind the scenes video created by the staff.  The video, which is currently posted on the museum’s YouTube channel, gives viewers a rare glimpse at the museum’s collection department.

Concepts for all winning entries were conceived by CNMCC employees and created in collaboration with DesignWorks Group, Inc. in Wichita Falls, Texas.
