57th ANNUAL HEARD MUSEUM GUILD INDIAN FAIR & MARKET
Saturday & Sunday, March 7 & 8, 2015; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday
Discover one of the Southwest’s largest and most prestigious events: the Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair & Market. More than 600 top American Indian artists will be present across both days of the Fair & Market, offering handmade, authentic work for view and purchase. Jewelers, sculptors, painters, potters, weavers, bead workers, katsina doll carvers, basketmakers and more will feature their best work. This year’s theme will be “Celebrating the Art of Basketry,” prominently featuring the basketweaver’s and basketmaker’s art. Visitors will be able to also enjoy music, dance performances, demonstrations from prominent Native chefs and both Native and traditional festival foods. Tickets will cost $20 for adults and $10 for students with I.D., veterans and active military with I.D. and American Indians with tribal I.D. Children 16 or younger can attend for free. Tickets include event and museum admission.

GUILD MONTHLY MEETING SPEAKER: BARBARA MILLS, UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA
Wednesday, March 18; 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Barbara Mills, professor of anthropology at the University of Arizona, is the featured speaker. Barbara will lecture on the Chaco network and its relationship to other groups, including Zuni, Hopi and Ute, and how each people developed its religion and customs. Anyone interested in information on membership in the Heard Museum Guild, the museum’s dedicated corps of volunteers, is welcome. 9:30 a.m. social hour, 10 a.m. speaker, 11 a.m. business session. HEARD MUSEUM COUNCIL AMERICAN INDIAN ART & ARTIFACTS APPRAISAL DAY
Saturday, March 21; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It’s time to dust off those items lurking in your closet or perched on your shelves! Bring your treasures to the American Indian Art & Artifacts Appraisal Day, where you can have them examined by leading Native art traders. These experts will be able to offer information about materials, dates, artists and traditions when it comes to your items. $30 for the first item, $25 for the second, and $20 for the third and subsequent items, with a 10-item limit per person. Heard Museum members receive $5 off per item. In the Steele Auditorium.

AMERICAN INDIAN STUDENT ART SHOW & SALE
Saturday through Monday, March 28-30; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday & Monday; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday
One of the few national events celebrating the achievements of young Native artists, the Student Art Show & Sale held at the Heard Museum offers an incomparable selection of artwork for viewing and purchase. Visitors can peruse hundreds of works of art by hundreds of students in grades 7 to 12 that will be on display and for sale. Over its history, this annual event has returned more than $265,000 to students from the sale of their artwork and more than $100,000 in scholarships and grants to art teachers. Free. First Fridays, Native + You, or NU, are at the Heard Museum, with free admission from 6 to 10 p.m. every First Friday of each month except March.
