PORCUPINE, S.D. (AP) – The man leading an effort to build environmentally sustainable housing on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation has been named a fellow at Ashoka, a network of social entrepreneurs.

Nick Tilsen of Thunder Valley Community Development Corp. is part of a group planning homes on the impoverished reservation that will incorporate Lakota culture with large common living areas.

The Thunder Valley Regenerative Community Development also would include systems to filter and reuse water and to get energy from rooftop solar panels.

Ashoka has fellows from and working in 70 countries.
