Chickasaw Children's Choir Forming Now

The Chickasaw Children’s Choir will begin rehearsals this month for the 2012-13 season. Chickasaw students, ages six through 17, who want to learn more about vocal music and performance are welcome to participate.

Interested students, parents and guardians are invited to attend a introductory meeting 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center, 401 E. Oklahoma, Sulphur, Okla.

At the meeting, choir conductor Phillip Berryhill will answer questions about commitment to the choir, rehearsals and performances.

Students in the children’s choir learn various aspects of development in the vocal arts and choir performance. The choir performs songs in English, Chickasaw and other languages at various tribal and community events.

Rehearsals will be held regularly in Ada, Ardmore and Sulphur. Other locations may be scheduled as students are added.
