All money from the sale after production cost will be distributed to Women’s shelters throughout the nation.

Pulaski, NY – 6/20/2010 – CEO and Executive Producer Donald Blackfox, and Producer Kelly Montijo Fink of Spirit Wind Records are pleased to announce the release of the CD/ DVD slideshow album The Color of Hope. The Color of Hope project is a collaborative effort of 20 Native American female artists that have donated their music for the benefit of the CD and DVD project. The goal of this project, according to Donald Blackfox, is “to improve the lives of battered women, their children, and others impacted by domestic violence; providing education and raising public awareness; and connecting members of the community to direct service providers.”

As a gesture to thwart the existence of domestic abuse, all money from the sales of the CD/DVD after the production cost will be distributed to Women’s shelters throughout the nation. Spirit Wind Records will disperse a check every 3 months to a shelter selected by an artist on the album in the order they appear on the CD. The first disbursement will go to a domestic violence shelter on the Pine Ridge reservation in S. Dakota, “Cangleska" (pronounced Cha glesh ka). http://www.cangleska.org/

Cangleska, Inc. is similar to other domestic violence shelters in that it provides comprehensive domestic violence and sexual assalt advocacy and related services. Cangleska specifically caters to the citizens of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, living on and adjacent to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, located in southwestern South Dakota. This shelter was chosen by Award winning flutist J J Kent in the name of his late wife Cathy Gregory whose spoken word is the first track on the CD.

As part of the world premiere release of the album, several of the artists and multiple tracks from the album will be featured on the “Native Trailblazers” blogtalk radio show (a show that features the outstanding contributions of Native American people) on Friday June 25th at 7pm EST. www.blogtalkradio.com/nativetrailblazers
