The Chickasaw Cultural Center has a number of events planned for the month of June. The festivities are educational and fun for the whole family.

Chickasaw Cultural Center hosts International Archives Day.

The Chickasaw Cultural Center invites everyone to celebrate International Archives Day at the Holisso Research Center on the Cultural Center grounds. The event is set 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 9.

The Holisso Center houses a wide array of important Chickasaw documents, photographs and artifacts.

International Archives Day is a day to celebrate the archival process. It teaches the importance of archives, what they have in them and how they are used,” Archives allow people to catch a glimpse of how people thought of the world in a different time period.

While visiting the Holisso Research Center, check out the “1700s Beadwork of Southeastern Tribes” exhibit now on display. Currently on loan from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. The exhibit features historical Southeastern tribal beadwork from pre-European contact, including 200-year-old artifacts. Items will on display in the Holisso Center through November.

Celebrate Father’s Day at the Chickasaw Cultural Center.

Come to the Chickasaw Cultural Center June 20-21 to enjoy some quality time with dad for Father’s Day. Fathers will receive free admission to the Chikasha Poya Exhibit Center, there will be special sales in the gift shops and complimentary tea and cookies in the Aaimpa’ Café.

CCC to usher in Summer Solstice with festival.

Usher in the return of warmer weather during the Summer Solstice Festival at the Chickasaw Cultural Center. The festival kicks off Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and continues from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 21.

Festivities include stomp dances in the traditional village, live musical performances in the amphitheater and both days include a showing of “First Encounter” an award-winning documentary about the tribe’s first contact with European explorers. The documentary will be shown in the Anoli Theater.

Children’s Fest on tap at CCC.

The Chickasaw Cultural Center hosts its annual Children’s Festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 27, come and enjoy a day of games, face painting, arts and crafts, a magician, storytelling, stickball, a movie and so much more. Kids will receive a free gift while supplies last, so early arrival is encouraged.

The Chickasaw Cultural Center is located at 867 Cooper Memorial Dr. Sulphur, Oklahoma. It is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
