Heard Museum Shop Summer Clearance Sale Starts July 1
Check out the bargains at the Heard Museum Shops Annual Summer Clearance Sale, daily starting July 1, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. This shopping event offers discounts on the finest authentic American Indian artwork, including almost everything from katsina dolls and jewelry to baskets, textiles, pottery and fine art. And, the Shop does not charge sales tax, so you save even more on your purchases! (Bruce McGee’s Collectors’ Room, consignment purchases and already discounted items are ineligible for additional discounts.)
First Fridays at the Heard: Native + You

Friday, July 3

First Fridays, Native + You, or NU, are at the Heard Museum, with free admission from 6 to 10 p.m. every First Friday of each month except March. July’s theme is “Super Dance Party,” in conjunction with our summer exhibit, Super Heroes: Art! Action! Adventure! (Admission to museum galleries is free 6 to 10 p.m. Admission to Super Heroes is subject to a $5-per-person gate fee.) More information is at heard.org/first-fridays.
Heard Museum to be closed on Independence Day Saturday, July 4

The Heard will be closed on Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day, reopening for regular business hours at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 5. Independence Day is one of four days each year the Heard is closed. The others are Thanksgiving Day (which in 2015 is Nov. 26), Christmas Day and Easter Sunday (which in 2016 is March 27).
Free Summer Sundays July 5, 12, 19, 26
The Heard Museum is going to be one cool place to be this summer! Each Sunday in July, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Heard Museum will offer free admission for all, thanks to support of the National Endowment for the Arts and Cox Charities. ($5 gate fee per person will be charged for admission to the exhibit Super Heroes: Art! Action! Adventure!, on view through Aug. 23, 2015.) On these days, children can be creative in designing their own super hero costume (while supplies last) and join in a “super” scavenger hunt to search for other super heroes in the museum, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Kids of all ages can enjoy performances in the Steele Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. See artists at work during artist demonstrations from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. During Summer Sundays, don’t forget to stop in at the Courtyard Café and the Coffee Cantina at Heard Museum Phoenix for some great lunch specials: the Cantina will feature fresh-fruit smoothies and ice-blended coffees. Blue Star Museums Initiative Through Sept. 7
The Heard Museum is proud to once again participate in the Blue Star Museums Initiative for the sixth year and extends its gratitude to the members of our armed forces. From Memorial Day, May 25, through Labor Day, Sept. 7, active duty military personnel and up to five family members will receive free admission to the museum with a military ID. Hundreds of museums across the U.S., Puerto Rico and in American Samoa take part in the program. Active duty members of the Marines, Navy, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, National Guard and active duty Reserve personnel are eligible. Blue Star Museums is a partnership among the museums, the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, Joining forces and the MetLife Foundation.
