HONOLULU (AP) _ Hawaii will receive more than $10 million in federal grants for Native Hawaiian education.

Hawaii's congressional delegation in Washington, D.C. announced earlier this week the money will go to 17 new programs and initiatives that support the education of Native Hawaiians.

The funding was awarded competitively to nonprofit organizations including schools, universities and churches.
