TULSA – OSU-Tulsa’s Graduate Student Services Center will host a series of workshops to help graduate students gain the resources necessary to successfully complete their studies.

“The workshops provide an array of information ranging from topics about the basic nature and benefits of a graduate education to the procedures related to the application and admission processes,” said Aaron Christensen, OSU-Tulsa graduate student services manager. “We offer tips on how to find a good fit in a graduate degree that is aligned with your passions and career goals, compare and contrast the different graduate entrance exams, and discover strategies and resources to help enhance your graduate application.”

The workshops begin Feb. 8 and run through March and cover a variety of topics, including entrance exams, funding opportunities, research strategies and thesis reviews.

Tips and Strategies to Prepare for Graduate Entrance Exams will be held Feb. 8 at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. in North Hall 140. Each hour-long session will introduce resources available to prepare from the three tests commonly required for entrance into graduate programs: GRE, GMAT and MAT.

For students already enrolled in a graduate program at OSU-Tulsa, the Plan of Study/Matriculation workshop on Feb. 21 at 3:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. in Main Hall 2301 will help gain insight into university policies and procedures.

“The Plan of Study is required for all graduate students so it is important for students to understand the significance of the contract as well as the steps to completing a plan in a timely manner,” said Christensen.

The Thesis/Dissertation Draft Review is set for March 6 at 3:30 p.m. in Main Hall 2301 or March 7 at 5:30 p.m. in Main Hall 2303. This workshop is an overview of graduate policies and procedures as they relate to thesis/dissertation and graduation.

“For graduate students in the thesis or dissertation phase, the thesis/dissertation workshops not only satisfy the draft review deadline but also help students overcome some of the most common errors in the formation of the document,” said Christensen. “During these workshops, students will also become aware of the important deadlines and submission requirements related to their thesis or dissertation, as well as the steps required for graduation.”

Is a Graduate Degree Right for Me? will introduce the benefits of a graduate education. The workshop is set for March 13 at 3:30 or 5:30 p.m. in North Hall 140.

The Graduate Programs Showcase will be held March 27 from 2-5 p.m. in North Hall 140 as part of the Graduation Fair at OSU-Tulsa. Attendees will be able to talk to representatives from all of the difference graduate programs offered by OSU-Tulsa.
