American Indian College Fund Receives Donation from ExxonMobil and Employees

$100,000 To Provide Scholarships, Other Support

ExxonMobil extends long-standing partnership with American Indian College Fund

Scholarships help Native American students receive STEM education

Portion comes from ExxonMobil Foundation’s matching gift program

IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ExxonMobil has announced a grant of more than $100,000 in support of the American Indian College Fund (the Fund). The donation extends ExxonMobil’s partnership with the Fund dating back to 1988 and will provide scholarships, sponsorship and administrative support to the organization.

Part of the grant will be used to continue the ExxonMobil Foundation Tribal College Scholarship Program, which offers funds for Native American students studying science, technology, engineering and math at tribal colleges. Another portion is provided through the ExxonMobil Educational Matching Gift Program, one of the most generous of its kind in the United States. Through this program, ExxonMobil matches 3:1 the contributions of company employees, retirees, surviving spouses and directors.

For 20 years, ExxonMobil Tribal College Scholarship Program has provided financial assistance to American Indian students pursuing advanced degrees. Since 2003, ExxonMobil has assisted almost 250 American Indian students from more than 45 tribes in reaching their higher education goals.

In addition to the American Indian College Fund, ExxonMobil develops and supports other programs promoting the involvement of underserved populations in engineering, math and science careers. Nationally, these include the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camps, Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day and the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, among others.
