U of Wash. assoc. prof. to lead Salish college

PABLO, Mont. (AP) – A new president has been found to lead the Salish Kootenai College in Montana.

The Missoulian reports that Luana K. Ross has been selected by the college’s board of directors and will take over as president on July 1.

Ross is an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. She is currently associate professor of Indian Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle and adjunct professor of American Indian Studies.

Ross received her undergraduate degree from the University of Montana, and her doctorate in sociology from the University of Oregon.

She will replace retiring President Joe McDonald.

The Salish Kootenai College has about 1,100 students.
